A ‘Star of Hope’ charity tournament co-presented by ALMS and Synergy Badminton Academy.
The first ever badminton tournament for all ages including Junior, Open, and Senior events in Northern California.
We’ll be using state of the art badminton software/technology provided by ALMS to manage all events and matches.
The tournament will be hosted at Synergy Badminton Academy’s newest and the biggest badminton facility in the USA in Fremont, CA. A facility with 27 courts, and 2 of which will be equipped with electronic umpiring/scoring system and video recording.

We want to promote a safe and healthy environment for everyone to compete in, but with the recent state/county restriction and the continuing health concern, it will be impossible to continue with this event. As a result, both ALMS and Synergy have decided to cancel Sonic Smash 2020.
However, the preparation of the next tournament ‘Super Smash 2021’ is now underway. All those who registered in Sonic Smash 2020 will automatically be re-entered into Super Smash 2021. Registered player will receive confirmation for such arrangement. Please refer to the Super Smash 2021 page for more detail.

We have received over 130 surveys. Thanks to those who took the extra time to take part in it. The result is 53.7% September vs 46.3% June. In addition, with the continuing escalation of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak across the Bay Area and the entire nation, both ALMS and Synergy have decided to postpone Sonic Smash 2020 to mid-September (9/19 – 9/20).
We’ll extend the early bird deadline to 8/23, and the final deadline to 9/13. For those of you who registered after the previous early bird deadline (3/8), we’ll contact you individually and adjust your entry fee or issue a refund credit.
This is an unprecedented world wide event, and we understand that it has impacted everyone one way or the other. Stay active and healthy, and let’s look forward to a speedy recovery.

Both ALMS and Synergy are closely monitoring the development of the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak across the Bay Area. According to CDC, the risk of contracting the virus in the US is low, but we want to protect the health of all participants. The possibility of postponement is being considered, and a final decision will be made and announced in mid-March.

We’ll be taking lunch orders (selected dishes) for A Plus HK Style Café on both days. To get your lunch delivered, please order your food before 11:30am at the tournament desk.

Bar Code
Upon registering, every player will receive a confirmation email containing a Confirmation Number and a Bar Code. Please be sure to bring that Bar Code with you as it is used to check in/out, order food/drink, place auction bid, and raffle. You do NOT need to print it out. Just have it handy on your mobile device for scanning.
